Disciples of the Good Shepherd

Our Impact

The Disciples of the Good Shepherd is a diocesan congregation of women religious who take vows to serve the people and Church of the Diocese of Huehuetenango. These women, from different communities in Huehuetenango, live in seven different communities working as teachers, administrators, nurses, and pastoral workers. Their work and presence in parishes across Huehuetenango are a sign of the importance and possibility of the role of women in Mayan society.

Each Disciple has sponsors from the Archdiocese of Omaha who support her work through prayer and giving.

The Disciples added two new women to the formation process in 2025. This brings their number to 39: 25 consecrated women and 14 women in formation.
