Get to Know Our Sister Diocese Without Leaving Nebraska

Have you always wanted to be part of our mission but haven't had the time or ability to go on our mission trips? Have you wanted to learn more about the people of our sister diocese in Huehuetenango? Do you have a heart for mission and encountering Christ in a new way?

This year Ixim is calling all missionary hearts to a new way to connect with our sister diocese in Guatemala. We will be holding our first mission encounter retreat this summer from the evening of Friday, July 30 to the afternoon of Sunday, August 1.

The encounter is designed for people who've not been able to travel to Guatemala to learn more about the reality of Huehuetenango while getting to meet and interact with the people of Huehuetenango, Guatemalans who live in Omaha, and Nebraskans who’ve visited Guatemala through our mission trips.

We’ll learn about the family and prayer life of those in our sister diocese, education in our sister schools, the effects of migration, and the work of the diocese and women religious supporting parish communities in Huehuetenango. We’ll also have fun experiencing the food and culture of Huehuetenango throughout the retreat.

The retreat will be a free-will donation to cover two nights and meals at the St. Columban Retreat Center in Bellevue, Nebraska.
